Microsoft’s [email protected] program has been a great way for indie developers to create games for the Xbox, and get them out to millions of gamers without needing to have the massive budget that large game developers have.
The program, previously limited to the Xbox consoles is now expanding following today’s announcements at Build 2015. Indie developers will soon be able to create games for the Xbox, in addition to Windows 10 PCs, tablets, smartphones, and the HoloLens. It seems Microsoft will need to rebrand the program name now that it is available across a much larger range of devices.
This should be great for both developers to massively expand their reach with their Windows 10 Universal App-games, as well as customers who will now get to experience games on any Windows 10 device they own. This is the beginning of a new era of computing folks. The pieces are finally starting to come together as Microsoft moves towards achieving its ultimate goal of providing a unified computing experience for the world to enjoy.
