Last week Microsoft released Windows 10 build 17692, and it came with new enhancements for the Game Bar and some other new features. As usual, these changes were documented the minute the build dropped, but Microsoft has since updated the build announcement post with two new features that were initially missed. Indeed, also new in Windows 10 build 17692 is Fluent Design in system flyout menus and some OneDrive Files On-Demand improvements.

Windows Insiders should now notice that light dismiss XAML controls and transient XAML services in this build now features Fluent Design’s Acrylic material. This is best seen in system context menus, flyouts, auto suggest box dropdowns, combo box dropdowns, date and time picker flyouts, and media transport control flyouts. Other apps which are using the SDK for this build or higher will also see this change by default.
Additionally, with the improvements to FIles on Demand, Microsoft is looking to help clean storage on your system when space is running low. With build 17692, users can now make any downloaded Files-On Demand from OneDrive online-only if they weren’t used in a certain period of time. The setting can be found in Settings > System > Storage > Storage Sense.
It’s nice to see that Microsoft is improving on Fluent Design and also helping users save space on their PCs. We’re looking forward to another new build this week and hope it comes with even more cool features and even the autoplay feature for Edge which was initially teased last week.
