Halo Infinite to address cheating issues in upcoming February update

Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries is currently working hard to fix issues that couldn’t be addressed before the holiday break. In a forum update published yesterday, Halo Community Director Brian Jarrard explained that the next patch should address the Big Team Battle (BTB) matchmaking issues that have been plaguing the game in recent weeks.

Next on the team’s roadmap is a fix for the game’s recurring cheating problems, something that many Xbox players have been complaining about since launch. “We know there are a number of other topics you’re eager to hear about – including some issues with instances of cheating. The team has been working on a patch for mid-Feb that looks to address this and other things, and we’ll have more details to come as we get closer to release,” Jarrard said.

Halo Infinite definitely isn’t the only popular multiplayer title to be plagued by cheating issues, but it really doesn’t help that the game doesn’t allow Xbox players to opt-out of crossplay with PC players. With Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode being free-to-play, it’s also easy for cheaters who get caught and banned to create another Xbox Live account and re-offend.

In other Halo-related news, 343 Industries will also shut down online services for all Xbox 360 Halo games tomorrow, January 13. This is going to affect the old-gen versions of Halo: Reach, Halo: CE Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4, but all offline content should continue to work as usual.
