Google rolls out updated Chrome browser, gives Windows 8 'Metro' mode a new look

Google has rolled out a new version of its Chrome browser, bringing along an improved version of the browser’s Windows 8 ‘Metro’ mode. Chrome 32 for Windows can be used in a traditional fashion, or you can relaunch the app in Windows 8 mode to bask in a Chrome OS-like experience.

“Chrome on Windows 8 “Metro” mode gets a new look: Manage multiple Chrome windows and quickly get to your favorite Chrome Apps with an integrated app launcher.  On the desktop, we’ve updated the default styling of UI elements like form controls and scrollbars to match the sleek design of the new Chrome Metro interface,” Google stated in an official blog post.

As you can see from the image above, you are treated to a Chrome OS-like environment, complete with the app menu on the bottom left of the screen and a clock on the bottom right of the screen. You can even have quick access to the Chrome browser, Gmail, Google Search, YouTube, and more right on the taskbar.

Back in October of last year, we first learned about a dev version of Chrome that mimicked the Chrome OS-like environment. Now, we can finally get our hands on a final version of this browser, complete with this feature.

Hit the download link below to snag the latest version of Google Chrome. To check out Windows 8 ‘Metro’ mode, simply hit the settings button in Chrome and select “Relaunch Chrome in Windows 8 mode.”

Thanks for sending this in, Markus and Anon!
