Mozilla Firefox isn’t the only one getting the Metro treatment it seems, Google has today announced that it has plans to develop a Metro style version of Google Chrome for Windows 8 users. The new version of Google Chrome will work for both desktop and Metro in Windows 8.

A Google rep speaking to Mashable has today announced that Google is planning to develop a Metro style enabled desktop browser, which is a Metro application that also works on the desktop, like the current Internet Explorer 10.

The browser will be based on the Desktop version of the current Chrome, instead of the mobile Android version. It will include vastly improved touch support, unlike the current version of Chrome which can just about support touch scrolling.

It isn’t known when the Metro version of Google Chrome is coming, so for now you’ll have to stick with the desktop version, or use IE10.
