Cache, a Microsoft Garage app, is shutting down on February 28th

Cache, one of Microsoft’s many experimental “garage” apps, is going to be shutting down for good on February 28th. The news came out in an email to users and was also posted on the app’s official website.  Cache’s announcement thanked its users for its continued feedback, and stated that “there is an appetite for a service like Cache.”

It seems like Cache will be living on, in one way or another. Cache’s announcement said that Cache would be shutting down “as a stand-alone service,” and specifically thanked its users for “trying an early version of Cache and contributing to the next generation of products that reinvent productivity.” If that’s anything to go by, it’s probably a safe bet that Cache will be reborn in some upcoming Microsoft software.

While we don’t know anything about what Cache’s successor is going to be just yet, it’s a safe bet that we’ll have an idea about it sooner rather than later. If you’re a Cache user, you should keep an eye out for when Microsoft announces the future of the app.
