Dell refreshes Precision workstations with Skylake and Infinity Display

Dell announced today that their Precision line of laptops and desktops workstations will be refreshed with new hardware, better performance, and a thinner, lighter form factor.

\n

The lineup of mobile workstations will be getting the 6th generation “Skylake” Intel Core processors, Intel Xeon processors for mobile workstations, and future Intel Xeon processors in the E3-1200 product families. With the upgrade to 6th gen Intel Core processors, they will also be refreshed with new and much faster DDR4 RAM for 43% faster memory. Dell is also boasting that they will be receiving 3x faster SSDs for storage and new AMD and NVIDIA cards for improved graphics performance.

Dell Precision lineup refresh

\n

It also sounds like Dell is redesigning the line with inspiration from their sleek looking XPS-13 and the rumored XPS-15, as the signature Infinity Display with seemingly borderless screens will be making their way to Precision mobile workstations. Dell also stated this generation of Precision workstations will incorporate “new elements of industrial design with carbon fiber and aluminum for thinner, lighter, yet durable exteriors,” which are also used in the Dell’s XPS-13.

\n

The new Dell Precision lineup is expected to be available in the US in Q4. These new mobile workstations, and hopefully other exciting devices like the rumored XPS 12 2-in-1 will be talked about in more detail, and on display, at Dell World 2015 on October 20th through the 22nd. Stay tuned for more information as Dell and other PC manufactures (Microsoft included) begin updating their lineups with the latest Skylake processors.

\n

But for now you can check out the table below for more information on Dell’s refresh of the Precision family of laptops and desktops, starting prices included.
