As part of Best Buy’s 20 Days of Doorbusters campaign, the American retailer is offering today Microsoft’s black Surface Pro 6 with a matching keyboard for just $999, a $330 discount (via The Verge). This model comes with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and a black Surface Type Cover (the Surface Pen is sold separately)

Along with the Surface Laptop 2, the new Surface Pro 6 is the first Surface device since the 2013 Surface Pro 2 to be available in a black variant. Compared to the previous model, the Surface Pro 6 comes with quad-core Intel 8th gen Kaby Lake processors delivering 50% faster graphic performance, as well as 12.3” Pixel Sense display with a higher contrast ratio.

Unfortunately, the Surface Pro 6 still ships with a single USB-A port, and Microsoft didn’t replace the Mini Display port with a more versatile USB-C port. It’s also worth noting that the device ships with Windows 10 Home, so you’ll need to pay for upgrading to Pro if you want the additional features.

Overall, the Surface Pro 6 should be an excellent upgrade for consumers still rocking anything older than a Surface Pro 4, and it should also appeal to nostalgics of the original black Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets. The Surface Pro 6 is still using the same form factor that debuted on the 2014 Surface Pro 3, with minor improvements such as a redesigned thermal system to deal with the new Intel quad-code processors. Microsoft is expected to finally refresh the design next year with thinner bezels, USB-C, and more.
