The top free, paid, and trending windows phone apps and games as of september 28th

The Windows Phone Store is home to over 300,000 Windows Phone apps, with new apps coming in on a weekly basis. Let’s take a look at the Windows Phone Store and see which apps are at the top of the charts when it comes to the free, paid, and trending categories. We’ll also highlight some of these apps that have made it to the top of the charts.

As of September 28th, the top-five free apps in the Windows Phone Store (United States) are OneDrive, Facebook, Messenger, Pandora, and Skype. The top-five paid apps are Aerize Explorer Pro, Start Design, Metrotube, Theme+, and Skinery Themes. The top-five trending apps are #Online Movies, Tile Background, Souq, Fast for Facebook+, and Free MP3 Music.

Interestingly enough, the top trending app is an app that offers free online movies. In fact, this app offers over 10,000 movies for free. Clearly this app is on the verge of being removed from the Windows Phone Store, for obvious legal reasons.

The top-five free games are Age of Empires, Subway Surfers, Despicable Me Minion Rush, Hungry Shark Evolution, and Fail Hard. The top-five paid games are Plants vs Zombies, Cut The Rope Exp, Angry Birds, Sonic CD, and Disney Checkout.

Hardly anything exciting taking place this week, aside from a few new apps being released and managing to climb up the charts. Facebook is still in the top-five free apps list, as well as Messenger, Pandora, and Skype. Hardly any changes to the top-five paid games list as well. Let’s take a look at some of the new top apps below.

  • Aerize Explorer Pro ($2.99) – The award-winning Aerize Explorer Pro enables premium file management features including pass code lock, custom backgrounds, configurable sizes, layouts, icon themes, and much more.
  • Skinery Themes ($0.99) – Skinery Themes is a custom tile maker that lets you create new tiles with your own custom design!
  • Souq (free) – This is the official Souq shopping app that lets you browse all sorts of categories and make purchases online.
  • Tile Background (free) – Enhance your start background by applying astonishing filters to your photos!
  • Age of Empires (free) – Train an army to raid other cities, and command them in battle to dismantle your opponents’ defenses.

That’s all for this week, folks. Stay tuned for next week’s Windows Phone Store highlight.
