The folks over at JerryRigEverything have placed a sweet innocent Lumia 950 XL under the spotlight to test out the device’s durability in a series of extreme tests. What kind of tests you ask? Well, the kind of tests you wouldn’t dare do to your expensive Lumia handset. Instead, let’s watch some guy do it!
There are a series of bending, burning, and scratching tests. During the scratching test, the Lumia 950 XL’s display was able to withstand car key scratches, thanks to its Corning Gorilla Glass screen. The rear camera glass is nearly as strong and scratch resistant as the front display, which is another neat part of the device.
The back plastic cover is extremely prone to scratches and cuts, as evident in the video when the back plastic cover meets a razor blade. Ouch. You can even peel off the Windows logo too. During the burn test, the Lumia 950 XL survived a minute without any visible reaction to the display. Does it bend? Yes, it can bend a tad bit, but it holds up to the pressure.
The Lumia 950 XL is being marketed for having built-in liquid cooling, but upon cracking open the internal bits, it appears that the phone merely has liquid based heat pipe solution, which just so happens to balance out the heat inside the device. In other words, there actually isn’t liquid cooling in the device — not in the traditional sense.
