A few months ago, Microsoft announced that it had partnered with Cybersecurity company Lookout to integrate their Lookout Mobile Threat Protection with the company’s Enterprise Mobility Suite. As mobile devices play an increasing role in business environments, the partnership is meant to give IT and security better tools to protect data across user’s devices and applications.

Today, Microsoft has announced in a new blog post that the integrated solution is now generally available to business customers. IT Administrators will be able to enable and manage Lookout’s Mobile Threat Protection directly from the Intune console. As you can see in the image below, Lookout will complement Microsoft EMS’ identity-based security by focusing on three types of threats:

- Network-based threats (man-in-the-middle and SSL attacks)
- App-based threats (trojans, spyware and rootkits)
- OS-based threats (jailbreaked iOS devices and rooted Android devices)

Lookout’s mobile security is directly integrated into the Intune console.

Brad Anderson, Corporate Vice President of the Enterprise Client & Mobility (ECM) team, explained why the partnership between Microsoft and Lookout makes sense:

Lookout has a rich knowledge of the security and compliance concerns on iOS and Android, and EMS has the rich solution for managing access to and protecting corporate assets. This partnership also integrates our cloud services so that EMS can govern access to corporate resources based on the risk analysis Lookout has identified on every device.
